There is an interesting speech patern used in New Zealand that keeps freaking me out. It happened this morning on our bus ride to Te Anau.
"Everyone bring your lunch, did ya?"
My first thought was "Crap I didn't bring a lunch, but I should have."
In Queenstown, a guy in a backpacking shop asked.
"Got your walking stick, do ya?"
To which I thought "Yes! I got my trekking poles, I'm awesome!"
It turns out this is really just a simple way of asking a questions. There is no expected right or wrong answer. It's just how one asks a question.
